Our tour format includes:

Information on our transition to school program

A guided tour of the school, including visits to classrooms to experience learning in action and hear from our student leaders about their perspectives on life at Marion Primary

Time to ask questions and discuss your child’s needs as we tour.

School tours for new enrolments run for approximately 45 minutes and begin at 9:10 am from the Front Office. To register or to obtain further information, please contact us on (08) 8277 2293 or email marionps.administration@schools.sa.edu.au.

Registration of Interest for Reception Placement

To assist us to manage enrolment numbers, all parents / carers of prospective Reception students need to complete and lodge a Registration of Interest for Reception Placement. Forms should be lodged with the school generally by June 30 each year. Enrolment offers are completed early in term 3 with advice then sent to parents to finalise your child’s place.
If you miss the June 30 deadline this year, or you have any other questions, don’t worry. Simply contact the school office and we will gladly assist you with this process.

Starting school

From 2025 children who turn 5 years old:
• before 1 May can start primary school (the first year is known as reception) at the beginning of the year
• from 1 May to 31 October start school through the mid-year intake at the start of term 3 of that year
• after 31 October start school at the beginning of the following year.

Students who start school at the beginning of the year will complete 4 terms of reception. Students who start school through a mid-year intake (start of term 3) will complete 6 terms of reception.

Transition to school

Starting school is an important time for children and families. Children who make a positive start to school are more likely to:
• feel comfortable, relaxed and valued
• feel excited and motivated to learn
• have good relationships with others
• develop a sense of belonging within the school community

Our transition to school programs help children cope with the new challenges, support your child in developing their social, emotional and learning skills and contribute to a successful start to their schooling.

Orientation visits

We hold a series of transition sessions to familiarise children with our school context including playtimes, eating times and participating in specialist lessons. These are held in Term 4 for all children who have enrolled to start at Marion Primary School the following year.
