This week we recognised R U OK? Day, an important reminder of the power of a simple question — “Are you OK?”
While this national day helps shine a spotlight on mental health and wellbeing, it’s important to remember that checking in on one another isn’t something we do just once a year — it’s a conversation that matters every single day.
At Bendigo SDS, we teach our students about help-seeking behaviours as part of the Rights, Resilience and Respectful Relationships curriculum. Asking for help, offering support, and knowing where to go when things feel hard are vital skills for all of us. These lessons encourage our students to understand that needing help is a normal part of life, and that by reaching out, we strengthen our school community.
We also want to remind parents and carers that you are never alone. We have a number of staff who are ready to support families when challenges arise. Whether you need a listening ear, advice, or practical support, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
By looking out for one another — students, staff, parents, and carers — we can create a caring community where everyone feels safe and supported, every day of the year.
